Backpackers Queensland - from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and beyond

Queenland backpacker highlights:

  • Cairns: the pinnacle of Australian backpacking, Cairns offers visitors endless activities on the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a lively nightlife, great places to eat, and cheap places to stay

  • Magnetic Island: just 8 km off the Townsville coast, “Maggie” offers secluded beaches and great bushwalking tracks

  • Airlie Beach: the gateway to all the Whitsunday Islands, this town centres around tourism, and is extremely popular with backpackers

  • Whitsundays: this group of 74 islands is famous for its sparkling blue waters and white sands.  Hamilton Island, Hook Island, and North and South Molle Islands are popular with backpackers.

  • Hervey Bay: famous for its whale-watching (especially between August and October each year) Hervey Bay is the portal to reach both Fraser Island and Lady Elliott Island.

  • Brisbane: the “river city” is Australia’s third largest city, with a population of 1.5million people.  North Stradbroke and Moreton Islands both lie directly off its shores.

  • Gold Coast: stretching 35km along the coastline, the Gold Coast is comprised of many little beaches and towns, the most infamous being Surfers Paradise which is full of high-rise apartments, restaurants and a bustling nightlife.  Also nearby are the theme parks – Sea World, Dreamworld and Warner Bors Movie World.

Have a banana ride, canoe ride, or see the whales in Hervey Bay. Splurge or just window-shop at Queens Street Mall. Take sunset photos of the scenic goodwill bridge in Brisbane, bask in the sun of Langford Island in Whitsunday. Do the extreme and sky dive 10,000 feet above the grounds of Cairns and Gold Coast. From amazing beaches to the supurb spectacle of Queenslands Great Barrier Reef, your backpacking experience in Queensland is only limited by the time of your visa, and that can be extended if you want to stick around for a longer trip!

All these and a whole lot more when you go backpacking in Queensland. Enjoy the whole state and unbelievably low accommodation rates absolutely fit for passionate backpackers like you.
